He Who is Forgiven Much, Loves Much
Sermon Overview:
The person who wishes to receive favor and forgiveness from Jesus cannot approach Him in pride, but rather humility and full acknowledgement that he is a sinner, with faith that God is able to forgive him. Faith in Jesus, faith in who He is and what He has done, is what saves us; as opposed to faith in ourselves. When you realize the sheer magnitude of the debt we owe to God, and that Jesus had to absorb that massive debt Himself in order to forgive us, the only response is great thankfulness and love for Him.
Sermon Outline:
1. The repentant sinner’s approach to Jesus
2. The Pharisaical approach to Jesus
3. Jesus’ response to each
Scripture Reading:
Psalm 51:1-17, Luke 7:36-50
