Luke: Jesus Unveils John the Baptist (Luke 7:24-35)
Sermon Overview:
John was the great prophet who prepared God’s people for Jesus, yet he was misunderstood and rejected by all the religious elite and those who led Israel spiritually. In like manner, when Jesus finally did show up, he was also rejected by the religious elite. It is no different today, both Jesus and his prophets are misunderstood and rejected by the religious elites of our day. And it is no wonder when they are being told they are sinful and wicked.
Sermon Outline:
1. John’s whole ministry prepared people’s hearts
2. John was great, but not the greatest
3. John’s ministry was rejected by the religious elite
Scripture Reading:
Matthew 3:1-12
