Luke: Jesus Confronts Our Self Love (Luke 6:29-36)
Sermon Overview:
Jesus is calling us to love in a way that completely shatters any love of self. It is the kind of love that strikes our sinful heart and exposes us—it is the kind of love that a sinner cannot perform. However, Jesus does something in the gospel that conquers our sin and captures our hearts.
Sermon Outline:
1. To the one who strikes you, give him your other cheek (v.29a)
2. To the one who takes from you, give him more (v.29b)
3. To the one who begs from you, give to him, expecting nothing in return (v.30)
4. If you don’t love in this way, you are not different than sinners (v.32-36)
Scripture Reading:
Exodus 22:21-23:5
