Self-Denial and the Cross
Sermon Overview:
When we give of ourselves and empty ourselves in self denial, we make room for God to pour Himself into us. It allows us to receive greater blessings from Him. This is what Jesus meant when He said that “Whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
Sermon Outline:
1. Self-denial within the Trinity
2. Jesus' self-denial and submission to His cross
3. Our self-denial and submission to our cross
Scripture Reading:
Matthew 26:36-46; Matthew 16:21-26
