With Parenting, You Need to be Tender and Tough
Sermon Overview:
When it comes to parenting, we have to realize that we have to be tough on sin, yet tender with the child. Toughness requires that we discipline our children and don’t let them get away with sin. Whereas tenderness requires that we do it in a way that is for their good and growth, not our own means of venting our frustration. If you are parenting out of frustration, you are failing to be tender and tough.
Sermon Outline:
1. Being tender
2. Being tough
Scripture Reading:
1 Samuel 2:12-17, 22-24
Questions for further discussion:
1. Why is it so easy to get frustrated as parent?
2. What does it mean to be tender? How do we cultivate that in our hearts?
3. What does it mean to be tough? In what ways do you need to be tougher?
4. What would tender and tough look like practically in your home?
