With Parenting, You Need the Gospel (Romans 1-8)
Sermon Overview:
If we are to parent in a way that is effective, powerful and life transforming, we must parent according to the gospel. Because the gospel is the power of God to bring salvation to everyone who believes.
Sermon Outline:
1. You have to be straight up about sin
2. You have to demonstrate that acceptance is based on grace
3. You have to lead them to where the true power is found
Scripture Reading:
Romans 3:9-25
Questions for further discussion:
1. Have you ever thought that if you could just keep your kids away from the wrong people, and temptation they should turn out just fine? Why are we tempted to think that?
2. What is the biggest problem us and our children have to face? Is it without or within?
3. How do you normally deal with sin? Do you cover it or confess it? Why?
4. What is so amazing about God’s grace in Jesus? Does it ever seem hard to believe?
5. Why are we tempted to operate in our strength and power instead of God’s?
