Luke: Jesus is Doing a New Thing (Luke 5:33-39)
Sermon Overview:
Luke 5:33-39
In the Old Covenant the law with its ceremonies and rituals governed the people of God, but when Jesus came and established the New Covenant in his blood, and filled us with his Spirit, the Old was fulfilled and was put away. This is why Jesus’ disciples are eating and drinking and having a good Ol time, and they don’t fully know why yet.
Sermon Outline:
1. Jesus brings a party
2. Jesus brings a new garment
3. Jesus brings new wine and new wineskin
4. Jesus knows that those who have drunk the old wine won’t like the new wine
Scripture Reading:
Acts 2:1-13
