Luke: Jesus is Rejected by His Own
Sermon Overview:
Luke 4:22-30
Jesus is rejected by the people of his own town because they know his connections, they remember his past, and therefore they don’t believe him to be who people are saying, and they don’t like his words. From this passage we can see why unbelief reacts the way it does to Jesus, and why Jesus makes such a good high priest.
Sermon Outline:
1. Connections v.22
2. Not passing the test v.23
3. Unbelief v.24
4. Speaking the truth v.25-30
Questions for further discussion:
1. Have you ever felt rejected before? What was it like?
2. What would it be like to be rejected because of the family you were connected to?
3. Why did Jesus not prove to them that he was the Son of God and do a miracle?
4. How does Jesus’ being rejected like this help in him being our high priest?
Scripture Reading:
Hebrews 2:10-18
