Luke: Jesus Presented at the Temple
Sermon Overview:
Luke 2:22-40
Jesus is the center of all history. The world must deal with him. What he did, what was said, and what happened to him make him the person you must deal with on a daily basis. Jesus fulfilled the law--and that's good! He brought salvation--and that changes your heart. But it comes at a cost, because you must decide about him, and that will cause a division.
Sermon Outline:
1. Fulfilling the law v.22-24 & 39
2. Complete Salvation v.25-32
3. Bringing division v.34-35
Questions for further discussion:
1. Why is Jesus fulfilling the law so important?
2. When you think of salvation, do you think primarily of salvation from God's wrath? Why?
3. Why must salvation include being saved from the things in this life that so easily ensnare our hearts?
4. Why does Jesus bring division to families, churches, countries and nations?
5. What do you need to do to make sure you apply these truths to your life?
