Luke: Jesus and the Pharisees (Luke 5:17-26)

Sermon Overview:
Luke 5:17-26
It is so easy to become a Pharisee. All you need to do is become an authority in the Bible, get some pride over your skills, begin to judge others for their ignorance, criticize the church and Christians for what they are doing wrong, separate yourself from those things that defile, and you are well on your way. The Scribes and Pharisees of our day are in the pews and pulpits of our church. In fact, you should look in the mirror, because you just might be becoming one.

Sermon Outline:
1. Scribes and Pharisees were scrupulous, authoritative judges (v.17&21)
2. Scribes and Pharisees were filled with biblical pride (v.22-24)
3. Scribes and Pharisees were blind to the works of God (v.26)

Scripture Reading:
Matthew 23:1-13
