With Marriage, You Need to Take Responsibility (Matt.7:1-5)

Sermon Overview:
Matthew 7:1-5
A beautiful marriage isn't one without problems and sin, it is one without pride, self-righteousness and blame-shifting. It is one where each spouse takes responsibility for the problems they are facing, and seeks to bring the goodness of Jesus to the situation. And can only be this way when we understand how Jesus dealt with us.

Sermon Outline:
1. What does it mean to not judge lest we be judged?
2. We need to look to Jesus
3. Taking responsibility is the only way your marriage will grow

Scripture Reading:
Isaiah 53:1-9

Questions for further discussion:
1. Why are we so quick to place blame on others and so unwilling to take it ourselves?
2. What does the log and the speck, which Jesus takes about in Matthew 7, teach us about ourselves and how we look at others?
3. How does Jesus take responsibility for all our sins, weaknesses and failings?
4. How can you take responsibility for the problems in your marriage?
