With Marriage, You Need to Walk by Faith

Sermon Overview:
The only way we make it through the tough times in our marriage, and not look to receive more than what is appropriate from our marriage is by walking by faith. Because in marriage God will bring you to the end of yourself, and you will quickly realize that you have nothing, that you are weak, and you cannot look to your wisdom, your strength, or your resources—you have to look to God, and in him find the grace. For when we walk by faith, we put our trust and confidence in God’s sovereign rule and his gracious promises, not in the circumstances or the rewards of marriage.

Sermon Outline:
1. What faith is and what it is not (Heb.11:1)
2. Why faith is essential to a healthy marriage (Heb.12:5-8)
3. Why not walking by faith is a bad idea
4. How faith is cultivates and strengthened (Rom.10:17)

Scripture Reading:
2 Corinthians 4:17-5:7

Questions for further discussion:
1. What does a person’s life look like when they walk by faith? Have you seen good examples of this before?
2. What does the Bible say faith is? Why is faith impossible apart from God granting it to you?
3. Why do you need faith to have a healthy marriage?
4. What do you plan on doing to strengthen your faith?
