With Marriage, You Need the Spirit (Eph. 5:15-21)

Sermon Overview:
As a Christian we have a war within ourselves, and depending on which side is fed will determine which side wins. Our flesh desires to be served, fulfilled, comforted and satisfied, whereas the Spirit longs to give, serve, help and bless. So if we want to see the fruit of the Spirit in our marriages, then we must be filled with the Spirit, and give no opportunity for the flesh. Otherwise, our marriage will experience the pain, destruction and corrosion of our selfish flesh.

Sermon Outline:
1. Cut off the supply of Junk food
2. Fill your cupboards with goodness
3. The results will be impressive

Scripture Reading:
Romans 8:5-15

Questions for further discussion:
1. Do you find it easier to eat well when you don’t have bad stuff available, but you have good stuff available? How does that relate to our spiritual lives?
2. How do you cut off the supply of junk food in your life spiritually?
3. How do you fill your cupboards with goodness spiritually?
4. What would you have to do in your life to cut off the junk food and fill your cupboard with goodness? Have you ever done this before, and if so, what were the results?
